Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. Messenger Service gives you varying results that depend on the command options or interface you use to send messages. The method you use determines whether the message is a local Broadcast or a directed datagram, and to which NetBIOS name the message is to be sent. | ||

If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. | ||
