Logical Disk Manager Service
| Service Name: | dmserver | Process Name: |
svchost.exe -k netsvcs |
| Safe to Disable: | Yes | Recommended Setting: |
Enable |
| Detects and monitors new hard disk drives and sends disk volume information to Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service for configuration. Waits for new drives to be added and passes required information to the LDM administrative service; required to ensure dynamic disk information is up to date. | |||
| If this service is stopped, dynamic disk status and configuration information may become out of date. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. New disks will not be detected by the system. Leaving this service enabled makes it easy to add new drives to the system. In a very high security environment, this should not be allowed. | |||
