Indexing Service

Service Name:  CiSvc Process Name:
 cisvc.exe
Safe to Disable:  Yes Recommended Setting:
 Disable

Indexes contents and properties of files on local and remote computers; provides rapid access to files through flexible querying language.

The Indexing service uses the Cidaemon.exe process to index files. The Cidaemon.exe process builds and updates the Index catalog. Additionally, the Cidaemon.exe process typically uses lots of pagefile space and lots of CPU time. Files will not be indexed. Indexing can speed searching. Disable this service if you don't plan to use it.
